WELCOME TO THE PLYM YACHT CLUB
With the beautiful waters of Plymouth Sound literally on our doorstep we run weekly Friday Night Yacht Racing Series in Plymouth Sound during the Spring, Summer and Early Autumn.
We have a strong youth contingent with regular Tuesday Cadet Club sessions from April through to Early October. The Club Cadets are given sailing instruction by RYA qualified instructors using our fleet of Laser Picos and RS Feva’s. Cadets can progress into dinghy racing as the sessions continue and many crew yachts in our Friday yacht race series.
We run two concurrent yacht race series during the summer months on Friday Nights. Friday Night Racing provides a relaxing end to the week and which currently have about 20 boats entering.
The Friday evening race series are sponsored by Yacht Haven, who also sponsor the Cadets.
There are Several long distance races sponsored by Ullman Sails during the summer at weekends to ports like Fowey, Falmouth, Salcombe, Dartmouth and back.
We are an enthusiastic family orientated sailing club, run by volunteers.
Formed in 1970 with the aim of providing a family sailing club on the eastern side of Plymouth. Whether you are completely new to sailing, looking to get back on the water, improve your skill levels, sail, cruise regularly or just join us for social events you will find a warm, friendly welcome at the Plym Yacht Club.
The club offers a convivial atmosphere for parents and children, yachtsmen, dinghy sailors and all watersports enthusiasts.
Throughout the year we hold social events at our club house, the Quiz Shield runs through the winter with cash prizes and the overall Quiz Shield.
We also hold monthly Winter Welly Walks at various places in the surrounding area followed by a pub lunch. Children and dogs are also welcome especially if under control. Walks are usually in the order of 3 - 4 miles and at a gentle pace.
We have an annual Boxing Day walk along the Plym Valley and retreat to the Clubhouse afterwards.
