Club Moorings

Moorings everywhere are limited in number and the it's no different at the Plym Yacht Club and at times there can be a waiting list to obtain a mooring.

To hold a mooring you need to join the Plym Yacht Club as a full member by completion of a membership form. The administration process then takes a few weeks from receipt of your membership form and mooring application. If available, the mooring is generally allocated following full payment.

The moorings year runs from April to March and the moorings are usable all year.  Generally members will take a mooring for twelve months from the beginning of April to the end of March the following year. Whilst empty moorings become available throughout the year, the allocation process starts in December through to March.

The moorings are all on the River Plym and can be seen from Oreston slipway or on Google Earth. There are three trots of moorings extending above and below the slipway. Those on the far side are the “Cockle Bank” trot whilst those on the nearside are the “Inner” and “Outer” trots and a mix of 36’ and 30’ deep water trots.

A Plymouth City Council run dinghy park is at the top of the slipway or Plymouth Yacht Haven Quay has dinghy storage available. Locally, there is an active “Boat Watch Scheme” running to assist in keeping an eye on your vessels well being.

The Plym Yacht Clubhouse is situated on the village green providing bar, catering and social facilities. Nearby is the local pub, a cafe and local shop and within a short distance is the Broadway shopping centre and a choice of supermarkets.
