Cruising
The hardest part of cruising in these South West waters is being spoilt for choice of destination.
The South West coastline of Devon and Cornwall is one of the most popular and beautiful cruising areas in the country. Cruising destinations here are varied in both size and character. There is somewhere for everyone in this area.
Plymouth is a large deep water harbour with many marinas, anchorages and numerous destinations further up river to see without going further afield.
Weir Quay, Cargreen, Dandy Hole and St Germans, will test many. Depending on the wind Cawsand, Barnpool or Jennicliffe provide good anchorages within Plymouth Sound
Only an hour away from Plymouth is the charm of the Yealm. A bit further are the fascinating ports of Dartmouth, Fowey, and Salcombe all with their own character and superb hospitality.
Further still Brixham, Torbay, Exmouth and Weymouth lie to the East. Or, go west, they say. Visit the port of Falmouth with its central marinas and St Mawes or Mylor. Up river is Truro whilst the Helford River is just round the corner. Cruise further to Penzance and Newlyn. Or onward to Ireland.
Whichever, East or West there are numerous anchorages not mentioned above to keep the cruising sailor busy in their powerboat, yacht or dinghy.
How about across the channel? Waiting for you are the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the coastline of Normandy and Brittany.
