Welcome Back to the clubhouse

Hi Everyone, hope you are all well and staying safe.

Our use of Lang’s House, bar and catering facilities has been seriously impaired with the impact of Covid-19. However, following the lead from Alan (Commodore), Fran (RCH) and the latest government guidelines much work has been completed by the House Team and volunteers in preparation for its re-opening.

Last Saturday saw a ‘soft’ opening of the bar to test out the ‘new normal’, with Ashley beating the rush to be first over the line for a drink of Legend Ale. Thirty or so members and guests followed, popping in for a few drinks throughout the evening. A fantastic start that we’d like to continue and on which we can build and develop.

So, what does the ‘new normal’ look like?

Many of you will be aware that Frank has retired as Club Steward due to ill health so the bar is being run and cleaned by The House Team supplemented by invaluable volunteers.
If you feel you can help please do not hesitate to get in touch, any assistance will be much appreciated.

So, what else is new …….

There are the obvious Social Distancing rules, which also applies to seating, there is a ‘Track and Trace’ signing in system, a one way system utilising the main door and fire exit. Tables are sanitised before and after use. Lots of hand washing between serving customers drinks to mention just a few of the additional measures in place to keep everyone safe. All proved very effective and thanks to Fran for devising the protocols that have been implemented.

We all know the limitations of Lang’s House, even when using the first floor for additional seating. With the current guidelines and, moreover, everyone’s health and safety being paramount, the House Team respectfully request all that visit the club appreciate and adhere to the current restrictions. Friday nights, can you let your crews know.

So, what’s next? Initially, existing opening hours will be offered, however, as you’ll all appreciate, unless the Clubhouse is used these times may need to be reviewed and changed.

Friday 1930 - 2300

All areas of the club need your help. Sailing, Cadets, House and Bar. All Volunteers are most welcome and any help, no matter how small are greatly received.
