Two teams led by Jon Harris, skipper of Jamala and Ash Crawford of Mischief initially met for a 10 Pin Bowling challenge. Varying levels of skill were evident ranging from the downright dangerous to the almost professional. PYC Commodore Alan is rumoured to have the highest score, but to be honest no one remembers for certain.
Back at Langs House resident chef, Kev and team served up a killer buffet for the 25 PYC Members & guests. No one went home hungry as the bottomless buffet just kept getting topped up.
The competition continued with a game of Hoy from Alan Nosworthy. Next, a very vaguely nautically based musical quiz from Jon Keeping, quoted as “I really could not believe that no one recognised Bizet’s Pearl Fishers Duet”. A nod to Paddy’s boat, “or even Fats Wallers, Keeping out of Mischief Now” This a nod to Ashley’s boat! Team Jamala claimed a winning score of 38 but then there was about 8 in the team. Nevertheless they failed to recognise their dedicated track - I’m Like a Bird by ……..wait for it …………. Jamala!
Richard from Jamala on guitar, polished the evening off with few singalongs. Technology helped as ‘the choir' checked lyrics on their phones. And hindered by as least 3 different sets of lyrics often being sung at the same time!
Anyway a great time was had by all, so thanks to the crews of Jamala, Mischief and Jos of Avon for turning up.
