8th Friday Night Race

The presence of MY Constance in the sound is worth a mention. At 46.33M she has been in SW waters before having been refitted in Pendennis shipyard in 2016.

Forecast had been hyped all week, however on the start it wasn’t to bad. 12 gusting 17 Kts (or force 5-6) from the NW made the showers rattle through quickly. The likelihood of the wind increasing as Storm Miguel tracked Northwards and it made sense to have three quick rounds in the sound. Add in the prospect of a hard beat to the west for those on the Plymouth Fowey Race tomorrows morn, an early finish seemed better all the time.

Perhaps wisely not many of the smaller yachts roused themselves, however those that did were rewarded with a brisk sail out the entrance to the Cattewater to Asia then Yacht Haven Buoy and back round the Mallards. Repeat three times. Needless to say the club was only just open when we walked in for a beer or two and another scrumptious meal.
