Event Four – PYC Friday Challenge Series
Event Four - Plym Yacht Club Friday Challenge Series
Another busy day in the sound, people and boats every where. Even the anglers had a good day with mackerel biting every hook in the water.
After last weeks event was blown out, a warm welcome to John Ingram who as coordinator set a course round Duke Rock, Asia and the Mallad’s. Followed by F Buoy, NW Winter and the Mallad’s x 2. With a blustery 8-14 Knts North Westerly it was set-up for an interesting first leg. In the end only Wizard – Jeff and Julie Foster went deep into Jennicliffe staying out of the incoming tide before popping out and reaching for Duke Rock. In my opinion, that won the race.
PYC Quality, Friendly Racing
This first series has confirmed how popular Plym Yacht Club racing is with all races over subscribed and entries closed for the second series. Why? The staggered slots are spread out over 16 minutes to maintain separation. That said, with boats early or late for their slot and lining up for the next slot. The lonely spotter (Alan Nosworthy) has a job keeping tabs. Then after you all have been enjoying yourselves for a couple of hours. Same spotter has been sat there waiting for you and 20+ boats arrive at the same time. Well it seems like chaos, over and done in 10 to 15 minutes.
looking forward to seeing you all again and again until we run out of Fridays.
