Sail GP Team New Zealand – Plym Yacht Club
SailGP is back in Plymouth
July 30th and 31st.
If last year is anything to go by then you may also see them out in the Sound for free practice on the Thursday and practice racing on the Friday. All the clubs involved from last year have adopted the same clubs again, which means we have again been adopted by Team New Zealand.
There are some exciting opportunities that come with the adoption and we are working with Team New Zealand to bring these to fruition. The relaxation of Covid protocols mean we can have a better relationship with the NZ Team.
Plym YC is involved again and providing most of the boats for the Feva Inspire programme. We are hoping they will take up our invite to come and sail with our cadets. Also up to 30 members will be able to go along to the ‘sheds’ (‘shid’ in NZ parlance) one evening to look at the boat first hand. We also have the privilege of having a space in the reserved spectator area afloat, as we did last year, which offers some of the best viewing available.
We are looking for ideas on how we can successfully support and entertain the crew during their stay. So put your thinking caps on and send in your ideas.
Ade and myself will again be supporting the event as part of the Plymouth support teams, this year. Ade was also invited out to Chicago to help with the race mark laying during the recent race there.
More information will be made available as we find it out.
